This year will commemorate thirty-fifth year since murder, and by that I mean abortion, was legalized.   Overall, since the Roe ruling on Jan. 22, 1973, there has been roughly 50 million abortions in the United States, and more than one-third of adult women are estimated to have had at least one (Crary, 2008). These legalized murders are a terrible blot on the out look of the United States and our moral standards, because abortion violates moral standards and should not be allowed to continue.

            In order to show how abortion does this one must first understand what a moral is.  Webster’s dictionary defines moral as the principals of right and wrong, so in our society there are two sets of moral “standards” the Biblical and the Secular.  The biblical moral standards can be summed up in one set of rules that almost every child knows, The Ten Commandments. Ten little rules that Christians must strive to abide by. These include: do not use the lords name in vain, remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy, honor your mother and your father, do not murder, commit adultery, steal, lie, or covet. Sounds simple enough but really this set of laws is problematical to abide by.   There are several secular moral codes such as the Constitution and Declaration of Independence there are also the laws of our country both the state and federal. Examples of theses are murder in the first or second degree, assault and battery, neglect and voluntary manslaughter in the state of Arkansas, as well as in federal laws, the Declaration of Independence and Constitution gives the right life, liberty and the persuite of happiness, as well as others. These are only a few of the many moral standards in the secular world many of wich have been twisted.
